Any Given Sunday

Like many football movies, which include other countries than the obvious USA, this one had star actor recognition. This did not make it any better - just showed us that no matter how many big name actors (and up and coming ones) a bad story line is a bad story line and nothing will help to fix it. You watch the movie waiting for the excitement to begin and you get a lot of political football talk on what they want to happen and what has happened. From a director know for his long version take on situations you want him to break it with certain types of movies - the answer to that one is - no. You will see the corruption behind the scenes and what goes through players head day by day - but with this guided towards the football fan -do you think they want to see this and that answer is NO. Football fans want to see action with a hero at the end - who cares if the story is true and hits home to your heart. Football is a tradition, an American tradition, not to be messed with.

Watchmen

If you thought this movie was too long wait until you watch the directors cut. It has some interesting moments for the cult comic book watchers but for the most part this is long enough to want that time back for something more interesting.
This movie drags from the past to the mid 80's (and who did not like superheroes then) and completes with a journal being sent to a publication house. It unfolds with special effects and shows the use of these effects throughout. It may have been a good concept but the storytelling was way off.
with that said - nuff said..............

Terminator

What will happen in the future nobody knows - all we know is right here and right now. In the mid 80's when this came out it was a sci-fi flick and who knew then what it would turn into. Much of what was happening then is almost real life now. With computers running the world as we know it and when the scare of Y2K came we all thought that we would head back to the stone-age because of computer failure.
This movie though kept well with time and was/is interesting to watch. This now is more of a sequel to what has followed. It got people thinking and got people paranoid about their neighbors.
Action happened throughout the movie but most happened in the last half with explosions and the destruction of the Terminator. The most poignant part of course was the love scene and that just set up the sequels to come. Once watched - it was to never be forgotten. A good movie with an interesting story behind it - what more do you want with your popcorn.

Mothman Prophecies

Boy, was this a slow movie. It has an intersting story behind it but to watch the story unfold was painful. It took a long time for this (the story) to come to light or even understand what it was all about. A man loses his wife, then starts seeing and hearing things in a town he has no idea how he got there and meets with the townfolk and their stories. Jeez, can it be more interesting. Where the moral was I have no idea, the concept, huh.
This leads us to believe that somewhere out there there is something that warns a certain individual about an upcoming disaster and when it happens we are to believe that everything was done to stop it from this individual. All I can say is - seeing is believing and what we don't know may not be explained, ever.

Clash of the Titans (80's style)

Whoever thought that this would be remade! At the time that this came out (the first time) it was inovative at the time with the flying horses and Medusa. It went back to the time of Sinbad and Jason. There were great actors in this movie that had other great movies behind them. I was only a school kid at the time when this came out and thought WOW. The acting was good for the type of movie that it was and when the action got slow the movie got slow and lasted forever, in a childs mind anyway but when the action was going- it was going and we had fun. The playgrounds were full of kids acting our the scenes and it was enjoyable. We had our 3D that way.
a good movie for kids and the older kids who saw it the first time.

Far and Away

While watching this movie you get the sense of what Irish life was like during the late 1800's. with the tenants and landlords who ruled the lands. The first part lets you see the living conditions that the the Irish lived. There is also a sense of what the landlord dealt with. During the second half you see the move made to America and how life was lived through those times. All may not be accurate but it gives the sense of what it was like. While many believe the streets were paved with gold this may not have been true for many. The acting was OK not great while these actors were still making there marks in the industry they were the stars at the time. This was good enough to sit with the family on a movie night and an interesting look of what was one was and how the American scenery changed throughout that time. with the help of other cultures.

What can you say........

I like to watch movies (a lot) and some are not as good as others - I have my own take on these and not all are positive.
While channel surfing I came across "Showgirls" and had not seen it for a while - thought it was bad when it first came out but wanted to give it another try. Needless to say I got about 45 minutes of it before I turned it off. The acting was so bad in this that I cannot believe that it was released to the theater. The waving of hands in the air for no reason and the the short snips of being upset must have made the audience cringe. This can be counted as a cult movie to show up and coming talent how not to act.
The views expressed throughout the history of this are by my hand and are my views - the comments expressed throughout the history of this are by Your Hand and are your views.
Thanks.

My Welcome

This is my welcome to your welcome. There are things in this world that we take for granted. Once we lived without the cell phone and computer. There are many places to find what you need and how to fix stuff by log on, what more can you ask for. Simple daily tasks can be done from your chair at home with wireless devices and a send button. You do not even need a phone- just an earpiece will do and you are connected to anyone. A world of technology is at hand for the future generations.
